Methodology Mission 2


We dedicated a day to meet on campus to work on filming all the scenes for our video and making our StoryMap, it is a free tool that helps you tell stories on the internet that highlight the locations of a series of events. We first gathered all the information on Jack The Ripper and written down details about each one of his murders from start to finish, after we had all the information such as the names of the women killed, dates and times we started building our very own storymap, it included each murder that took place one by one.

           Once we had the Storymap completed we dedicated the rest of the day towards filming the video, we thought it would be best if we filmed everything on campus. Thanks to Keith we had all the equipment we needed to record sound and film each scene.

            We found it surprising how long it took to film a 5 minute video, we faced difficulties such as finding empty areas on campus that we could actually film in, finding areas on campus in which we could record the audio for our video and last trying to find the right lighting for the scenes.

           We used a puppet as our news reporter in the video to make sure the video is not taken as seriously, we thought it would be a nice contrast as our video would be focused on Jack The Ripper which is a serious matter.

            It took us all day to work on making the Storymap and also filming the scenes but once we finally had everything filmed and finished we went home to edit the video.

I reflected on the creativity mission and I feel that I have learned a lot from it, this mission has pushed me to learn a few new skills such as how to work in a group, how to successfully search for information on the internet, helped me to further develop my Power point skills and helped me get out of my comfort zone, and most importantly I learned how to create my own Gif, something I would have never learn otherwise.                  I feel satisfied with the outcome of this mission as this was our first presentation and I feel that it was a good starting point for the next upcoming projects. I hope to learn more as time goes on with the upcoming projects.

               Continuation of The Art of The Animated Gif. After we had finished researching all the information we needed to start working on the slides, we decided to meet up in Starbucks after college so we could finally start creating our slides with the information we found on the internet. We started off our powerpoint with some information on how the Gif was created and a few other facts we could find, we found it interesting that most people actually mispronounce the word 'Gif' as its actually supposed to be pronounced as 'Jif'.                                         We took the time to watch a few shorts videos on youtube which taught us how to create a Gif on one of the popular sites such as 'makeagif' or the most popular one which is 'giphy'. We found the time during the week to all meet up and discuss how to further work on our project, we have already studied the history of the hashtag and read other peoples articles on activism, we knew by this time how we wanted to proceed, we just had to decide which hashtag each person wanted to explore.
